Ella Odyssey resumes service today

The popular ‘Ella Odyssey’ tourist train, which was temporarily suspended due to recent natural disasters, is set to resume its operations starting today.

The Department of Railways announced that the train will now run between Ambewela and Badulla every Wednesday.

According to the Railways Department, the train will depart from Badulla at 7:45 AM, arriving at Ambewela at 10:58 AM.

The return journey will see the train leave Ambewela at 1:30 PM and reach Badulla by 4:15 PM. The service is expected to see increased frequency in the future, depending on passenger demand.

In addition to the tourist train, the Department of Railways also confirmed the commencement of special train services for school children.

These services operate on school days between Nawalapitiya and Hatton, as well as Kandy and Wattegama, facilitating student commutes.

Furthermore, the Pulathisi Intercity Express, which connects Colombo to Batticaloa, is scheduled to resume operations starting this Friday.
