Modernisation of Colombo Fort Railway Station begins today

The much-anticipated modernisation project for the Colombo Fort Railway Station is set to commence today (9), with Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya officially inaugurating the initiative.

The upgrade aims to transform the historic station into a more efficient and passenger-friendly transportation hub.

Supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the modernization program will incorporate advanced technology to enhance passenger facilities and improve overall station infrastructure.

The project is part of broader efforts to modernise Sri Lanka’s transportation network and provide commuters with improved services.
