DFCC Bank Launches Sri Lanka’s First Tailored Financial Solution for Tuition Professionals
In a pioneering move, DFCC Bank has launched a unique suite of financial services under its DFCC Freelancer proposition, now specifically designed for Sri Lanka’s dynamic private tuition sector. This marks the first time a bank has introduced a bundled offering tailored to the needs of tuition professionals. A thriving, multi-billion-rupee industry serving over 3 million students and employing an estimated 100,000 professionals across the island. Despite this scale, many tuition professionals have had limited access to structured financial services that address their specific needs.
DFCC Bank is bridging that gap with a consolidated proposition that includes personal loans of up to LKR 5 million, express home loans with a ten-day disbursement window, and same-day vehicle leasing delivery orders. A key component of this offer is the DFCC Prestige credit card, which comes with a suite of premium benefits designed for this segment.
These include a waived joining and annual fee, 1% cashback on every transaction above Rs. 5,000, and an additional 2% cashback on fuel and utility bill payments made directly to service providers. For added flexibility, cardholders also enjoy six-month 0% interest Easy Payment Plans for transactions above Rs. 25,000.
Additionally, the card offers lifestyle perks such as one complimentary airport lounge visit per year via LoungeKey and complimentary travel insurance when purchasing a return air ticket with the card.
These offerings have been carefully developed to support the operational realities and ambitions of tuition professionals, many of whom balance large student cohorts, multiple venues, and evolving logistical and digital demands.
The package also includes daily income collection support via DFCC’s DMT (Doorstep Money Transfer) service, which enables educators to conveniently deposit their earnings without having to visit a branch—offering a secure, hassle-free cash collection solution right at their doorstep to help manage cash flow more efficiently.
DFCC Bank’s tailored offering is aimed at supporting these educators in expanding their efforts, investing in infrastructure, and accessing credit in a professional way.
Commenting on the launch, Aasiri Iddamalgoda, Senior Vice President – Retail Banking and SME at DFCC Bank, stated,
“At DFCC Bank, we see opportunities in places others may not immediately recognise. The tuition sector is thriving and plays a complementary role in our broader education ecosystem. Our Freelancer proposition for tuition professionals was designed after careful research into their financial needs, work patterns, and long-term goals. It’s about supporting the individuals who support education—by providing them with tools that are relevant, responsible, and empowering.”
