Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra promotes Colombo Port City in Australia

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra together with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd convened an Investor Forum attracting investment into the Colombo Port City from Australia on 3 March 2026.

The Forum was addressed by Deputy Managing Director, CHEC), Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, Thulci Aluwihare, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on investment opportunities and the regulatory framework of the Colombo Port City, one of South Asia’s most ambitious and transformative development projects.

High Commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera noted in brief remarks that Port City Colombo is envisaged as a multi services special economic zone offering one of the most competitive regulatory frameworks in the region.

The investor forum held at the Sri Lanka High Commission was attended by Assistant Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Bruce Soar; Australian Capital Territory State Manager of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Tony Fraser; Chief Executive Officer of the Canberra Business Chamber, Greg Harford, and selected representatives from companies based in Canberra; Melbourne and Sydney.
