Browns EV opens new Matara showroom

Browns EV, the electric mobility partner of the LOLC group, has further strengthened its commitment to accelerating Sri Lanka’s transition to electric mobility with the opening of its first showroom in the Southern province.

The showroom was ceremonially declared open by Browns EV Director and Chief Executive Officer Vijitha Bandara.

Located at No. 401, Kumarathunga Mawatha, Pamburana, the new 80-perch facility expands access to BAW and Wuling EVs across the Southern province, delivering an all-in-one experience from vehicle displays and test drives to expert financing guidance and reliable after-sales support.

Bandara said, “Our ambition with Browns EV is to build more than a portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs). We are building an ecosystem that gives the customers confidence in making the transition to electric mobility. As we expand our showroom network, charging infrastructure, financing partnerships and after-sales capabilities, we are focused on making EV ownership increasingly convenient, accessible and sustainable for the customers across Sri Lanka.”

Browns EV entered Sri Lanka’s EV market in 2025 as the electric mobility arm of Brown & Company PLC, under the LOLC group, partnering with international manufacturers to introduce globally recognised EV solutions.

BAW E7 secured over 2,000 pre-orders ahead of the launch, while the company surpassed 1,500 EV deliveries by early 2026. Since then, Browns EV has expanded its BAW and Wuling portfolio to include models such as BAW E7 Pro, BAW M8, Wuling Eksion, Wuling Darion and Wuling Mitra.

By September 2026, the company had handed over more than 3,000 vehicles, including over 2,250 BAW vehicles, reflecting its rapid growth and the increasing adoption of electric mobility in Sri Lanka. Browns EV continues to strengthen Sri Lanka’s EV ecosystem through financing, insurance, after-sales services and charging infrastructure, including its partnership with TELD for islandwide charging facilities.  Its ‘Drive to Own’ initiative further supported EV accessibility.  The company is also expanding its footprint with showrooms planned in Kurunegala and Kirulapona, alongside continued product diversification.

The opening of the Matara showroom marks another step in Browns EV’s nationwide expansion, bringing its growing BAW and Wuling portfolio closer to the customers in the Southern province while supporting Sri Lanka’s transition towards sustainable transportation.
