Colombo is set to host its first authentic Record Store Day event, marking a milestone in Sri Lanka’s music culture.
The event, titled “Art Meets Analogue,” is presented by ZEPP Records, which has been involved in Sri Lanka’s analogue music movement since 2017. It will take place at the Sky Gallery – Fareed Uduman Art Forum in Colombo 05.
Organisers say the event will offer a full-day programme centred on vinyl records. Visitors will be able to browse a collection spanning from the 1960s to recent releases in 2026, including both classic albums and contemporary titles. The selection has been curated to appeal to experienced collectors as well as new audiences.
In keeping with Record Store Day traditions, the event is expected to create what organisers describe as a “treasure hunt” experience, with rare pressings and limited-edition releases available.
An all-vinyl DJ set will be held throughout the day. Organisers state it will deliver “the rich, warm, emotional depth that only analogue sound can provide.”
ZEPP Records said the event reflects its broader aim of promoting physical music formats. Since its establishment, the organisation has focused on encouraging engagement with vinyl records as an alternative to digital streaming.
Describing the significance of the event, organisers noted it would serve as a community gathering point, allowing attendees to share experiences and celebrate what they referred to as the enduring “nostalgic groove” of vinyl culture.
Event details: Saturday, 18 April at Sky Gallery (Fareed Uduman Art Forum), Colombo 05, from 10 a.m.; admission free.
