Sri Lanka launches digital seed certification and traceability system

Sri Lanka has launched the CROPIX Seed Production, Certification & Traceability System to modernise the country’s seed sector through digital technology.

The system was introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Agriculture with technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

According to the FAO, the platform will improve transparency, efficiency and traceability in seed production and certification processes.

The system enables real-time monitoring of seed production activities and supports faster verification, approval and distribution processes for quality-assured seeds.
