The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, presented charitable donations to the Fathima Orphanage and Ladies’ Hostel in Colombo, at an event dedicated to supporting orphaned children and promoting humanitarian initiatives.
Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr. Alireza Delkhosh who was present at the event, interacted warmly with the children, which symbolically brought together orphaned students and remembrance of the martyred schoolchildren of Minab in a shared classroom setting reflecting hope and solidarity.
The Ambassador said that civilians, particularly children, are protected and their security is inviolable under armed conflict, describing this as a peremptory norm (jus cogens) of international humanitarian law. He said that on February 28, 2026, U.S. missiles targeted not only the Minab girls’ school but also, “the very heart of humanitarian law,” resulting in the martyrdom of 168 “little angels.
