The Annual General Meeting is undoubtedly the pinnacle of the association’s membership calendar where the current President after a year’s administration, hands over to a new incumbent to carry on the affairs of the association. The primary function at the AGM is to elect new office bearers and an Executive Committee for the coming year 2021 / 22.
The current President Ranga Ratnayake will preside over the official functions of the AGM where he would be handing over the mantle of office to the President-elect Boshan Dayaratne to take over as President for the year 2021 / 22.
During President Ranga Ratnayake’s tenure under the theme of ‘Embracing the Agile Revolution,’ the association organised many programs for the benefit of their members, university students and society. The flagship event of the association is its Budget Forum which was held in November 2020. It created a platform to provide insights to the business community and general public on the Government Budget constructed by policymakers.
Further it organised a couple of evening forums on timely topics which provided more professional and expert analysis to interested parties.
During the year the association introduced a co-branded Affinity Credit card exclusively for its members with special benefits. Overall, despite being a challenging year, the association made its presence felt and made its contribution known to its members, the university and society at large.
For the first time in the association’s history, the 24th AGM will be held in a fully virtual mode, where online participation will enable greater participation of members both locally and overseas.
The Annual General Meeting is also the event that members look forward for an opportunity to meet their batch-mates and other members for friendly exchanges and relaxation, recreation and refreshment. Unfortunately members will lose opportunity for fellowship and networking amongst the members this year as restrictions of physical presence will be in force in consideration of the safety and wellbeing of the members.
