Sri Lanka’s No. 1 smartphone brand, Samsung, recently announced that they are preparing to unveil their flagship products Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and its new TWS earbuds dubbed as Galaxy Buds2, alongside the pre-order phase of the all new Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 foldable phones.
The new true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds from Samsung are designed as the successor to the Galaxy Buds that were launched in February 2019. They are also an upgrade to the Galaxy Buds+ that were launched last year. The Galaxy Buds2 features active noise cancellation (ANC), which is a major change over their predecessor. Samsung has also offered an upgraded design for earbuds as well as the case with the Galaxy Buds2.
The Galaxy Buds2 comes with dynamic 2-way speakers along with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Each earbud is 5 grams heavy. The earbuds can provide up to 20 hours of playback time with ANC on. Samsung claims the Galaxy Buds2 can provide 60 minutes of playtime through just 5 minutes of charging. The Galaxy Buds2 are compatible with Qi Quick charging as well as wireless charging. Each bud houses a 61 mAh battery and the charging case comes with a 472 mAh battery unit.
The Galaxy Buds2 come with a uniform glossy texture. It has an in-ear design and comes with silicone ear-tips. The charging case has a dual-tone finish, with the inside of the case sporting the shade of the earbuds.
“We are very excited to launch our Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Buds2 to Sri Lanka. Following Sri Lanka’s first Foldable smartphone launch, we expect to expose consumers to the superior technology provided by Samsung Buds and Watch, in order to connect consumers to the Samsung ecosystem. This allows for a seamless technological experience and easier transition through the products for day to day convenience,” stated Kevin SungSu YOU, Managing Director, Samsung Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the new smartwatches are the first to run on the new Wear OS that Google unveiled in May in collaboration with Samsung. The new operating system for the Galaxy Watch 4 comes with Samsung’s latest One UI Watch custom skin. The Galaxy Watch4 Classic retains the traditional design with a rotating bezel that Samsung offered on the earlier Galaxy Watch models — including last year’s Galaxy Watch3. In contrast, the vanilla Galaxy Watch4 offers a regular bezel design that appeared last time on the Galaxy Watch Active2 in 2019.
On the display front, the Galaxy Watch4 40mm and Galaxy Watch4 Classic 46mm both feature a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a 396×396 pixels resolution. The Galaxy Watch4 44mm and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm, on the other hand, come with a 1.4-inch (450×450 pixels) Super AMOLED display. In both display sizes, you will get Gorilla Glass DX protection.
Samsung has used its wearable-focused Exynos W920 SoC for the smartwatches paired with 1.5GB RAM. The devices also have 16GB of onboard storage.
Samsung Galaxy Watch4 comes with the company’s proprietary BioActive Sensor that combines an optical heart rate sensor (PPG), electrical heart rate sensor, and a bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor (BIA) to enable a range of fitness and health tracking features, such as heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, and sleep analysis. Further, the smartwatches have features such as fall detection and analysis of menstrual cycles. It is, however, important to note that the Galaxy Watch4 and the Galaxy Watch4 Classic both aren’t medically approved for any health-related diagnosis.*
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series features preloaded sports modes to help you track your fitness activities and it comes with a water-resistant IP68 certified build.
Additionally, the smartwatch is also designed to provide notifications for calls, SMS messages, and emails. On the compatibility front, the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic both will work with devices running at least Android 6.0 and have more than 1.5GB of RAM.
Alongside such launches, Samsung is strengthening its ecosystem to guarantee a smooth transition from phone to watch to ear buds. This allows consumers to have a convenient and easy technological experience that also paves way for a more sustainable, technologically rich future.
