27Volt Industrial Company (Pvt) Ltd, the company behind VOLT Charge, has secured the Gold Award in the Best AI Startup/MSME Innovation category at the National AI Awards 2026 for VoltOS, its locally developed EV charging management platform. The recognition highlights the company's capabilities in developing intelligent technology solutions for Sri Lanka's evolving electric mobility sector.
The inaugural National AI Awards, spearheaded by the Ministry of Digital Economy and SLT-MOBITEL, marked the conclusion of AI Amplified 2026, bringing together technology innovators and industry leaders to recognise achievements across the country's growing artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Developed in Sri Lanka, VoltOS is an integrated operating platform designed to simplify the management of EV charging networks. It applies AI across four areas of network operations, helping operators make better use of existing infrastructure, anticipate technical issues and plan for future network expansion.
Through AI-driven dynamic load balancing, VoltOS goes beyond simply reacting to the power a building is using at that moment. Its machine-learning models learn each site's own consumption pattern from historical data and predict the load ahead. Power is then distributed across chargers in advance, within each site's electrical limits, so more vehicles can charge from the same supply and fewer sites need costly grid upgrades. The platform also uses predictive health monitoring, which draws on over 72 million telemetry records to learn what normal looks like for each individual charger. Instead of relying on fixed alarm thresholds, it detects subtle changes in temperature, voltage or error patterns that often come before a failure, so many issues can be fixed remotely, including through over-the-air updates, before they disrupt the charging experience.
Beyond managing existing infrastructure, VoltOS uses demand intelligence to forecast charging requirements from real network usage patterns, helping determine where new chargers are needed and the capacity required at each location. Its intelligent operations capabilities further automate network monitoring, diagnostics and reporting. A key feature of the platform is AI on the edge: VoltOS's compact, explainable models run directly on the charger itself, making load-balancing and health decisions locally in milliseconds and keeping chargers intelligent even if their connection drops. Models are trained in the cloud on fleet-wide data and delivered to chargers over the air, the same way as firmware updates. This enables a lean local team to efficiently manage a nationwide charging network.
