SLT-MOBITEL Games 2026 celebrate Athletics Championships with unity, teamwork, and dynamic sportsmanship

As part of the inaugural SLT-MOBITEL Games 2026, the SLT-MOBITEL Athletics Championships 2026 took place on 20 June 2026 at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.

The SLT-MOBITEL Games 2026 ushered in one of the company’s flagship employee engagement initiatives, designed to unite teams through sport and a shared purpose, celebrating unity, teamwork, and healthy competition.

The Athletics Championships featured the ceremonial flag hoisting, welcome addresses by senior leadership, symbolic activities including the release of balloons and lighting of the Olympic Lamp, and a full programme of athletics competitions, culminating in the award ceremony in the evening.

After the successful completion of the Track & Field events, other major games including badminton, cricket, football, swimming, volleyball, chess, carrom, and netball will take place in the weeks ahead as part of the wider SLT‑MOBITEL Games 2026 calendar.

Together, these events not only celebrate teamwork and sportsmanship but highlight the company’s vision of connecting and enriching lives by building a vibrant, resilient, and high‑performance workforce. The initiative aims to promote wellbeing, collaboration, and discipline, while also reinforcing resilience and excellence throughout the organization.

The SLT-MOBITEL Sports Council 2026/27, comprising representatives from SLT and Mobitel, coordinated the SLT-MOBITEL Athletics Championships to ensure smooth organization. The Council also reinforced SLT‑MOBITEL’s commitment to employee pride and participation, encouraging involvement and backing sports associations throughout the Group.
