President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a high-level discussion today (04) at the Presidential Secretariat to assess potential economic effects of the Middle East conflict and direct urgent preventive measures.
Officials examined challenges in fuel and gas supplies, food security, tourism, exports, investment, and inflation, and strategies to mitigate risks.
The President instructed authorities to maintain fuel and gas stockpiles, explore alternative air traffic routes, and manage potential port congestion.
He also directed the Ministry of Finance to prepare a relief package to encourage investment, including in digital economy projects.
The meeting included senior officials from the Presidential Secretariat, Ministries of Finance, Trade, Ports, Civil Aviation, Customs, the Central Bank, and the Board of Investment.
