Official Mozambique e‑Visa platform goes live for travellers from 183 countries, including Sri Lanka

Powered by VFS Global, the new digitally powered system is part of the Visit Mozambique initiative

As Mozambique opens its doors to the world, the new digitally enabled eVisa system forms part of the Government of Mozambique’s broader digital transformation and border modernisation agenda, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and traveller convenience in supporting increased tourism and investment flows into the country.

Powered by VFS Global- the global leader in trusted technology services, empowering secure mobility for governments and citizens, the modernised digital platform introduces advanced automation, secure data processing and cloud-based infrastructure, enabling travellers from 183 countries worldwide, including Sri Lanka, to apply online for Mozambique visas through a secure, fully integrated eVisa solution that manages nonjudgmental and administrative aspects of visa applications.

The solution covers multiple categories of VISA and ETA, including Tourist, Business, Crew Transhipment, Sports and Culture, Humanitarian Assistance, Oil and Gas, with stay durations ranging from shortterm visas to longterm visas of up to two years, all through a single, unified system.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Jiten Vyas, Chief Commercial Officer of VFS Global, said, “We are privileged to partner with the Government of Mozambique on this important digital transformation initiative, which reflects a shared commitment to facilitating secure and efficient global mobility. The newly upgraded platform integrates modern digital capabilities, representing an important digital gateway for travellers, businesses and investors, reinforcing Mozambique’s commitment to welcoming the world through secure, efficient and technologydriven mobility solutions. As part of its implementation, the eVisa project supports local employment and capacity, thereby contributing to skills development and job creation in the country.”

The launch of the digitally enhanced system is also expected to play a key role in promoting Mozambique globally, with a planned tourism promotion programme that leverages the digital platform and an extensive international network to support inbound travel growth in line with the Government’s tourism objectives.

Here are the four simple steps to apply for a Mozambique eVisa:

1) Visit https://evisa.gov.mz/

2) Submit all the required documents

3) Pay the necessary fees

4) Receive the pre-approved eVisa via email before departure

Designed to deliver a seamless user experience, the platform features intuitive navigation, automated data extraction from passports, an integrated photo editor, and a secure international payment gateway that enables applicants to complete the process before travel. The system is fully responsive across mobile,

tablet and desktop devices, and provides access to 24/7 multilingual customer support, enhancing accessibility for travellers worldwide. With the payment having been made online, travellers can enjoy a smoother and faster entry experience at the immigration counters.

From a governance and security standpoint, the platform is built on a robust and scalable architecture, supported by cloud technologies and advanced cybersecurity protocols to ensure high performance, realtime monitoring and uninterrupted availability. All applications are qualitychecked by a dedicated backoffice team based in Mozambique operating 24/7, while data protection and privacy are safeguarded through compliance with global security and data protection standards.

The Government of Mozambique retains sole authority over visa decisions. VFS Global manages only nonjudgmental administrative processes through the platform, ensuring a clear separation between service delivery and sovereign decisionmaking.

VFS Global has experience offering its digital eVisa platform to 12 governments, including Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai, South Africa, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Azerbaijan, and Suriname, amongst others.
