The COYLE Ladies Chapter, the social service and charity arm of the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs, has appointed Minoli Wickramasinghe, CEO/Chairperson of Capital Trust Properties, as its President for the 2026–2027 term.
The appointment was announced in early April 2026, following the Annual General Meeting of the Chamber of Lankan Entrepreneurs, which also marked COYLE’s 27th anniversary and saw the appointment of Suren Chandraratna as Chairman of the main body.
Established in 2005, the COYLE Ladies Chapter has continued to support welfare and social service initiatives aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities across Sri Lanka. Over the years, the Chapter has contributed to several meaningful causes, including support for the Little Hearts Project at Lady Ridgeway Hospital and the donation of artificial limbs in collaboration with organisations such as the Colombo Friend In Need Society.
Under Wickramasinghe’s leadership, the COYLE Ladies Chapter will focus its efforts this year on “Sip Shakthi,” a project aimed at uplifting rural schools by improving basic infrastructure, sanitary facilities, learning resources and access to digital education tools.
Speaking on the project, COYLE Ladies Chapter President Minoli Wickramasinghe said, “Uplifting rural schools to a standard closer to leading schools in Colombo has always been a passion of mine, because every child deserves access to a strong education. Visits to several rural schools, including some located close to Colombo, have been an eye-opener. The lack of infrastructure, sanitary facilities, resources and teacher support is deeply concerning.”
She further noted that while the scale of the challenge is significant, the need for action is urgent. “Education is one of the most important and fundamental needs of society. If we remain silent, it will continue to be neglected. Through Sip Shakthi, we hope to begin by helping schools improve their basic infrastructure, create a more conducive learning environment, provide essential sanitary facilities and introduce resources such as digital boards to support the new curriculum in selected classrooms.”
As part of the initiative, the COYLE Ladies Chapter will conduct several fundraising activities under the Sip Shakthi theme to support the project and extend its impact to more schools. The Chapter has also called on corporates, individuals, NGOs and relevant government authorities to support the initiative and help strengthen education infrastructure across the country in a sustainable manner.
“We urge corporates, individuals, NGOs and government organisations responsible for the education sector to support this endeavour. This must become a sustainable effort if we are to create long-term change for children across Sri Lanka,” Wickramasinghe added.
Through Sip Shakthi, the COYLE Ladies Chapter aims to build on its legacy of community service by addressing one of the country’s most important development priorities: equitable access to quality education.
