Hunas Hospitality appoints Rajith Gooneratne as Head of Hunas Hospitality

Hunas Leisure (Pvt) Ltd has announced the appointment of Rajith Gooneratne as Head of Hunas Hospitality, marking an important step in the development of its unified hospitality brand.

His appointment comes as the group enters a new chapter, bringing distinctive destinations together under a shared vision. With the launch of Hunas Hospitality and Hunas Beach, alongside the forthcoming introduction of Hunas River and the refreshed Hunas Falls identity, Gooneratne will lead the portfolio’s continued development, with an emphasis on operational excellence, guest experience and sustainable commercial growth.

Gooneratne brings more than 15 years of experience in the hotel industry, spanning hotel operations, corporate sales, financial planning and pre-opening management. His career includes involvement in three hotel openings, providing a strong foundation for guiding properties through launch, positioning and operational readiness.

“Having worked across hotel openings, operations and sales, I understand how closely the guest experience and business performance are connected. At Hunas Hospitality, my priority is to bring those perspectives together, giving each property the direction and support it needs to deliver on its individual promise,” said Gooneratne.

His experience includes serving as Pre-Opening General Manager at Sesaya Hotels, where his responsibilities encompassed operational planning, recruitment, brand standards and pre-opening budgets. He also served as Group Resident Manager at Reveal Collection Luxury Boutiques, overseeing four boutique properties with responsibility for operational performance, profitability and team development.

Earlier in his career, Gooneratne held pre-opening leadership roles at Fairway Sunset Galle and Fairway Colombo, combining operational management with corporate sales and business development. His hospitality background also includes roles at Cinnamon Bey Beruwala and Cinnamon Grand Colombo, giving him experience across both guest-facing operations and commercial functions.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management with Honours and a Diploma in Hospitality Management with Honours from the University of Toulouse, France.

As Head of Hunas Hospitality, Gooneratne will focus on strengthening collaboration across the portfolio, developing its people and establishing consistent service standards while preserving the individual character of each property.
