HNB PLC has introduced E-Saver+, a new digital-only savings account offering an interest rate of 9%. The rate places it among the highest savings returns available in Sri Lanka today, rivalling the earnings typically associated with fixed deposits.
Available exclusively through the HNB Digital Banking, E-Saver+ is designed for customers who want the flexibility of a savings account paired with a rate of return that stands apart in the market. The account requires a minimum initial deposit of Rs. 5,000,000, with a higher rate applied to balances at or above that threshold and for balances below Rs.5.0Mn upto Rs.500,000 a rate of 7.5% will be applied. Interest is calculated on daily balances and credited monthly, giving depositors a steady, compounding advantage without locking away their funds for a fixed term.
E-Saver+ is open to any Sri Lankan citizen aged 18 and above. As the account opening is enabled exclusively through HNB’s Digital Banking platform, the entire application process for E-Saver+ is paperless, requiring no documentation. Once opened, the account operates purely in the digital space, supported by an e-statement and ePassbook.
“E Saver+ marks another step in our vision to redefine everyday banking through innovative, digitally enabled financial solutions. As the banking landscape continues to evolve, we are focused on developing products that combine flexibility, accessibility and competitive value, while setting new benchmarks for the future of banking in Sri Lanka.” HNB, Head of Deposits, Viranga Gamage noted.
The launch of E-Saver+ arrives alongside some of the strongest fixed deposit rates currently offered in the Sri Lankan banking sector. HNB fixed deposits are presently paying up to 12% at maturity for tenors of 15, 18 and 24 months and 13% at maturity for 60 Months, giving customers across risk appetites and liquidity needs a compelling set of savings choices.
“We want every saving decision to bring meaningful value to our customers. Whether they prefer the convenience of managing their savings digitally through E Saver+ or the certainty of a fixed deposit, our range of deposit options is designed to give customers flexibility and attractive returns, helping them get greater value from the money they save.” HNB, Head of Deposits, Viranga Gamage added.
Together, these offerings highlight HNB's position at the forefront of savings innovation in Sri Lanka, combining digital-first convenience with rates that place depositors' returns firmly at the centre of the proposition
