Gymnast Sadewmi for Asian junior championship

Sadewmi Shehasna, a student of Christ Church girls school Baddegama, has earned national recognition in gymnastics and took wing to represent Sri Lanka at the 19th Asian Junior Gymnastics Championships currently in China.

Sadewmi, who is also a member of the Sri Lanka gymnastics squad, won the Under-16 Girls’ championship at the 2026 All-Island Schools Games Gymnastics Championships.

She is the youngest gymnast in the Sri Lanka squad and has also achieved success at provincial level. At the recently held Southern Province Open Gymnastics Championship, conducted as part of the second stage of the National Sports programme, Sadewmi was crowned Southern Province champion.

Her progress in gymnastics has been supported by her coach J. Wickramadhusanka, the gymnastics coach at Christ Church girls school Baddegama.

Sadewmi’s selection for the Asian Junior Championships marks another significant step in her young gymnastics career as she represents Sri Lanka on the international stage.
