British Airways will resume flights to Sri Lanka after a 10-year hiatus, returning to the island as part of its winter flight schedule and reopening a key air link with the United Kingdom and its wider global network.
The inaugural flight, BA2045, operating from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka at 8.35 a.m. on Saturday, 24 October.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has organised a special welcome ceremony at BIA to mark the airline’s return. The event will feature distinguished invitees and a traditional dance troupe to welcome passengers and guests.
The resumption of British Airways services is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Sri Lanka and the UK, providing travellers with another direct air link and supporting the country’s tourism sector, Sri Lanka Tourism said.
