Art With a Heart in Aid of the CFS Prithipura Home

Inaugurated in 1962, the CFS Prithipura provides a home environment from childhood to adulthood for 60 mentally and physically differently abled residents. We offer a safe place for the well-being and rehabilitation of the residents who need special care and attention due to mental, physical, social or economic reasons.

The Home is a registered charity and is an approved charity for inland revenue purposes.

Our vision is to provide a home for people with mental and physical disabilities. Our mission is to care for our residents in a community environment that enables residents to live life to the fullest. We empower each resident to develop their unique personality and skills, a goal made possible through the vital support of our diverse community of volunteers.

The Home relies on the generosity of our community to provide life-changing care. While we receive some state funding, it covers only a small portion of our costs. Private support from individuals, corporations and foundations is essential to our mission and directly impacts the comfort and welfare of our residents.

Monthly running costs are more than Rs.1.8 million when taking into account day to day needs such as meals, salaries, electricity, water and shortfall on food that is not covered by donations. Additional funds are urgently required for maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure.

To raise funds for these purposes, the Home is holding an art auction. The paintings up for auction will be displayed at the Udayshanth and Angelika Fernando Foundation at 138, Galle Road, Colombo 3 from November 5 to 7 from 10 am to 6 pm. Buyers can place their bids on the sheets provided. At 4 pm on November 7, a live auction will take place under the auspices of Schokman & Samerawickreme, who have volunteered their services free of charge.

The featured artists include Prageeth Manohansa, Chandraguptha Thenuwara, Anoma Wijewardene, Channa Ekanayake, Vajira Gunewardena, Kingsley Gunatilleke, Ismeth Raheem, Raja Segar, S.H. Sarath, Iromie Wijewardena, Michael Anthonisz, Wasantha Namaskara and Mayantha Perera.

The art auction organising committee is deeply grateful to the Udayshanth and Angelika Fernando Foundation for the free use of its gallery space, and in particular to Mr. Shanth Fernando for his support and guidance without which this auction would not have been possible.

The auction catalogue can be found on our website https://cfsprithipurahome.com and on our Facebook page CFS Prithipura Home.
