Amber advisory issued for severe lightning

The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Uva and Eastern provinces and Mullaittivu and Polonnaruwa districts.

The advisory is in effect until 11.30 p.m. today (28).

Thundershowers with severe lightning and temporary strong winds are expected in several areas. The public has been advised to take precautions.
