Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (23) on an official visit, arriving at a pivotal moment as the country shifts from crisis management to recovery and sustainable economic growth.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Kanda expressed that he was warmly received at the airport by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance, Anil Jayantha Fernando. He noted that his visit presents a valuable opportunity to engage with government officials, the private sector, and local communities to better understand the country’s priorities for the next phase of development.
Kanda emphasised that the Asian Development Bank remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka’s transition by enhancing infrastructure and connectivity and mobilizing investments to foster private-sector-led growth.
He also expressed his anticipation of working closely with stakeholders during his visit to advance these key initiatives, reinforcing the ADB’s role in Sri Lanka’s journey toward economic stability and growth.
