Tharanga stuns Olympic stars

  • Clinches gold in Nairobi

Sri Lanka’s ace javelin star Rumesh Tharanga produced a scintillating performance in Nairobi on Friday (24), winning gold while creating a new meet record at the Kip Keino Classic after a jaw-dropping throw of 89.28m.

He outperformed a world-class field, including Olympic champion Thomas Röhler of Germany and Olympic silver medallist and world champion Julius Yego of Kenya.

This marks his second 89m+ throw within the span of a month, further underscoring his consistency at elite international level and establishing him as one of the standout javelin throwers of the season.
