Thailand corporate, YWCA gift Sri Lanka Rs5mn for post-Ditwah recovery

Thailand’s private sector and civil society are supporting Sri Lanka’s reconstruction efforts, with YWCA Bangkok and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) donating around 5 million rupees (approx 26,000 dollars).

YWCA Bangkok contributed 200,000 Thai baht, while the Thai Beverage Public Company Limited contributed 10,000 American dollars to boost the ‘Sri Lanka government’s Humanitarian Priorities Plan (HPP).

The funds were handed over to Sri Lanka’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Thailand Wijayanthi Edirisinghe at the Embassy in Bangkok.

The YWCA contribution was presented by its President, Lantip Dvadasin, while the ThaiBev donation was delivered by Chamapan Rangratna, Advisor to the CEO of Corporate Affairs.

The move follows a broader trend of Thai-Sri Lankan cooperation. Earlier in January 2026, the Royal Thai Government provided a direct financial grant of 10.2 million rupees for post-cyclone reconstruction.

“The Embassy of Sri Lanka reiterates its sincere gratitude to the members of YWCA Bangkok, and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, for their timely and generous support during this challenging time,” the embassy said.
