Stock Exchange: SEC warns against Blue Ocean Securities

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) has alerted the public to not engage with the entity operating as Blue Ocean Securities Ltd. or its mobile application BOMate for investing in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), as the entity is not licensed by the SEC to function as a market intermediary.

“Individuals identified as Rohan Dias (claiming to be Chief Analyst) and Natasha Perera (claiming to be his Assistant) are not licensed by the SEC, and two impersonators are currently using these names,” the statement released by the regulator said.

According to its statement, the SEC has lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding this unlicensed entity.

Additionally, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has also lodged a separate complaint with the CID. The CID has commenced investigations, and the SEC has provided all related complaints and bank account details connected to this entity to the CID.

“The SEC strongly urges the public not to deposit any funds into any bank account provided by this entity and to exercise extreme caution when engaging in investment related activities.”
