Nishanga Dissanayake wins prestigious CTC Chairman’s Award

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) recently held its annual awards ceremony at Hilton Colombo, where the company’s highest honour, the ‘Chairman’s Award 2025,’ was bestowed on Nishanga Dissanayake, Customer Development Manager, in recognition of his outstanding contribution during the year.

Nishanga was recognised for his leadership and performance in delivering business impact through strong execution, stakeholder management, and disciplined commercial decision-making, reflecting the high standards of excellence expected across the organisation.

Commenting on his achievement, Dissanayake said, “Receiving the Chairman’s Award is a significant honour and one I accept with a great sense of pride. This recognition is a testament to years of my hard work and dedication towards the organisation and not one that I take lightly. I remain committed to driving sustainable impact and strengthening the standards we set for ourselves as an organisation.”

Dharithri Ruberu, Tax Compliance Manager was recognised as the first runner up, for her outstanding contribution towards sustaining compliance whilst maintaining strong stakeholder engagement whilst Hasitha Jayarathna, Leaf Executive – Buying was recognized as the second runner up for his innovative approach to minimising cost and optimizing output in the leaf department.

The Group Award was won by a team led by Ranil Pelpola, comprising of Amila Maduranga, Rahul Ratnayake, and Akash Fernando, who were recognised for a high-impact delivery of commercial results driven by strong coordination, clear focus, and effective cross-functional execution.

Representing the winning team, Ranil Pelpola said, “This award reflects a collective effort and a shared commitment to delivering outcomes through teamwork, consistency, and collaboration. I am proud to represent a team that stayed aligned and delivered with focus.”

The Group Award first runner up was a team representing the Commercial Team comprising Udara Kasturiarachchi, Chamadith Wijesinghe, Inam Ameen, Lasitha Walpola, and Shadeep Radhakrishna. The second runnerup position resulted in a tie between two teams: one comprising Dharshana Wanniarachchi, Roshan Dissanayake, Jaliya Kumara, and Ashika Galappatthy, and another consisting of Ashika Galappatthy, Asanga Egodawela, Yadhuravi Ramachandran, Chinthaka Wickramaarachchi, and Thilanka Kumara.

CTC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Fariyha Subhani said, “I congratulate all the winners and nominees recognised this year.
