Lanka Heritage CC Double Wicket Tourney

Third edition from 16-17 May

Lanka Heritage CC launched the third edition of its Over-45 Double Wicket Cricket Tournament at a press conference held on 6 May at Tamil Union.

The tournament is scheduled to be held on 16 and 17 May at Moors Sports Club Grounds.

A total of 24 teams will participate in the competition, with the tournament draw also taking place on the same day as the launch. More than 100 former cricketers are expected to take part in the event.

Lanka Heritage CC President and a former Josephian and Sri Lanka Under-19 skipper Dushan Soza, said, “This is an annual tournament and this year there is a large participation and everyone is looking forward to it.”

He added, “The Club aspires to make it an international tournament with foreign participation next year and the process is under way.”

“We have left no stone unturned in organising this tournament,” said Basil Perera, the Tournament Chair.

Roy Dias and Anura Tennakoon will attend the opening and closing ceremonies respectively as chief guests. Entrance for the public will be free.

A and E Innovative, Create, Deliver has signed on as the principal sponsor for the third edition of the tournament.

The teams have been divided into four groups of six teams each.

Group A: Maris Legends, Tamil Union, Olcott Schools, Lanka Masters ‘B’ and Old Joes

Group B: DS Masters, Richmond Masters, Moratuwa Legends, Colombo Friends ‘B’, Vintage CC and Old Nalanda ‘A’

Group C: Ananda Legends, Lanka Masters ‘A’, Old Nalanda ‘B’, ACC, Wattala CC ‘A’ and Bloomfield

Group D: SAAM, Colombo Stars, Colombo Friends ‘A’, Wattala CC ‘B’, Old Royalists and Chance Sports
