Igniting New Year Cheer, Hope, and Digital Horizons in a Heartland School

SLT-MOBITEL Marks Sinhala & Tamil New Year with a Uplifting ESG Initiative at Sri Rathanasara Vidyalaya, Hadunuwawa

In the spirit of the Sinhala & Tamil New Year, SLT-MOBITEL extended its commitment to community upliftment through an inspiring Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative at Sri Rathanasara Vidyalaya, kalapitiyagama, Hadunuwawa, an area recently affected by natural disaster.

Blending festive warmth with a vision for digital inclusion, the initiative sought to empower rural students by expanding access to modern learning tools while rekindling hope and positivity within the school community during a time of recovery and renewal.

In the aftermath of the disaster, the school community faced significant challenges in maintaining continuity in learning. Responding with care and commitment, SLT-MOBITEL stepped forward to strengthen the school’s educational foundation by enhancing access to essential digital resources and improving the overall learning environment.

Sri Rathanasara Vidyalaya, serving around 90 students, currently operates with limited technological infrastructure. To bridge this gap, SLT-MOBITEL revitalized the school’s computer laboratory, introduced new computer equipment, and established reliable internet connectivity, ensuring students and teachers engage with uninterrupted digital learning opportunities.

Going beyond digital upliftment, the initiative also enriched the school’s library through the donation of books and provided essential school supplies to support students in their everyday academic journey.

Adding colour and celebration to the occasion, an Avurudu Uthsawaya was organized within the school premises. Filled with traditional games, cultural activities, and joyful moments, the celebration created a vibrant atmosphere that allowed students to experience the true spirit of the New Year with laughter and togetherness.

SLT-MOBITEL has long been committed to supporting rural education across Sri Lanka, continuously working to bridge the digital divide by enabling access to connectivity and ICT resources that empower the next generation.
