Founder of KLC Tara Rajapaksha named Best Korean Language Teacher at Asia Miracle Awards 2025
Tara Rajapaksha, founder of the Korean Language Centre (KLC) in Kadawatha, has been awarded the title of Best Korean Language Teacher of the Year at the Asia Miracle Awards 2025. The award ceremony was held recently at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. With more than 25 years of experience in teaching, she continues to guide Sri Lankan youth toward new job opportunities in South Korea through dedicated language training. Over the past, KLC Kadawatha has trained thousands of students preparing for the Korean Language Proficiency Exam (EPS-TOPIK). Many of these students have passed with high marks and have secured jobs in Korean industries such as manufacturing, construction, shipping, and fishing. The centre is known for providing individual attention to each student, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
Classes are available at the Kadawatha centre, at the Matara Sipyana branch, and online via Zoom. Students can join from anywhere, choosing either physical or online attendance depending on what works best for them. The course begins from the Korean alphabet and includes the full syllabus required to perform well at the exam. All necessary books are provided free of charge. In addition, students receive free tutorials, audio tracks, and access to video recordings of live classes if they are unable to attend. There is no fixed duration. Students can attend the course for six months, a year, or even longer, and continue their lessons until the exam date without paying any additional fees. The centre also offers classes for both children and adults, covering Ordinary Level (O/L), Advanced Level (A/L), TOPIK, and EPS-TOPIK levels. Those interested in joining can contact the centre via WhatsApp at 077 245 6061 or 076304 8585. For the past few decades, Sri Lanka has been receiving an annual quota of job opportunities in South Korea under a government-to-government agreement. These employment opportunities are provided free of charge through the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). Any unskilled Sri Lankan national between the ages of 18 and 39 is eligible to sit for the EPS-TOPIK (Employment Permit System - Test of Proficiency in Korean) examination and, upon passing, secure jobs in various sectors such as manufacturing, construction, fisheries, and agriculture. These positions offer a minimum monthly salary of around LKR 500,000. Furthermore, after gaining employment in South Korea, Sri Lankan workers may become eligible to apply for other types of visas, including residency options for themselves and their families.
