Colombo University offers two tuition-free academic programmes

The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) of University of Colombo has called for applications for two academic programmes offered free of tuition fees for the 2026 intake, University officials said at a media briefing held by the University of Colombo.

‎The three-year Bachelor of Labour Management (BLM) and the one-year Diploma in Labour Education (DLE) offered by the IHRA are designed for individuals with work experience who wish to pursue higher education while continuing employment.

‎‎Applicants for the BLM degree must have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in three subjects or obtained at least three “S” passes in one sitting. Candidates with a recognised SLQF Level 3 diploma or those who have completed the DLE from the institute are also eligible to apply.

‎Applicants must be at least 22 years old and have a minimum of two years of work experience after obtaining their educational qualifications. Candidates must also pass an aptitude test or interview conducted by the institute.

‎For the DLE programme, applicants must have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination with at least six subjects including one credit pass in a single sitting. Applicants must also be at least 22 years old with two years of work experience.

‎The University said no tuition fees will be charged for the programmes, although a registration fee will apply.

‎‎Applications must be submitted online through the institute’s website, and the deadline for applications is March 31, 2026, officials said.
