ZeroPlastic Movement Unveils Corporate Sustainability Readiness Program (CSRP)

The ZeroPlastic Movement, Sri Lanka’s leading sustainability volunteer network, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to bring corporate employees into the country’s growing environmental movement. The new Corporate Sustainability Readiness Program (CSRP) empowers organizations to engage staff in measurable sustainability actions, using the popular ZeroPlastic App, already widely used among university volunteers, which will now be enabled for corporate employees as well.

Through this app, companies can track volunteer CSR projects, monitor staff participation, record sustainability hours and points, and visualize their progress through a dynamic organizational dashboard. Each employee can follow their own sustainability journey, climbing levels from awareness to leadership while contributing to company-wide impact metrics.

“For years, companies have wanted a way to measure sustainability at the individual level,” said Nishshanka de Silva, Founder of the ZeroPlastic Movement. “The same app that mobilized thousands of university volunteers will now help corporate employees take measurable, recognized steps toward a sustainable workplace.”

The Corporate Sustainability Readiness Program bridges the gap between awareness and action, creating a culture where sustainability becomes part of daily work. The initiative combines education, volunteering, and gamified recognition to motivate staff participation.

Employees can engage in a range of activities, from pledging to reduce single-use plastic and joining community cleanups to leading sustainability projects and mentoring others. These actions are validated through the ZeroPlastic App, ensuring credibility and measurable outcomes.

CSRP’s four-level employee roadmap which consist of Sustainability Associate, Advocate, Champion, and Leader, providing a structured path for professional growth through environmental contribution. Employees advance by earning points for verified actions, fostering healthy competition and collective achievement.

By combining gamification with measurable outcomes, CSRP turns sustainability from a compliance activity into an engaging, rewarding experience that builds purpose-driven teams.

With the ZeroPlastic Movement already active in universities and schools across Sri Lanka, this expansion marks a major milestone, integrating the country’s private sector workforce into the same sustainability ecosystem.

By enabling corporates to use the trusted ZeroPlastic App, the movement aims to create a unified national platform where both youth and professionals contribute toward measurable SDG-aligned outcomes. The movement’s strategic communications partner, Mark and Comm, extends its fullest support to combat ecological concerns through education and advocacy.
