The Public Health Inspectors Union (PHIU) announced that registration of Vesak ‘Dansal’ will commence from Monday (04) ahead of the upcoming Vesak celebrations.
Secretary Chamil Muthukuda stated that the process will be carried out at public health offices islandwide.
Organisers have been advised to follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and consult Public Health Inspectors for proper procedures.
He also noted that 382 ‘Dansal’ were held across the island for the Poya Day observed yesterday (01), with registrations already completed.
This year, May includes two Full Moon Poya days.
While May 1 was initially marked as Vesak Poya Day, the government later designated May 30 as the official Vesak Poya Day following consultations with Buddhist religious leaders. Accordingly, May 1 was observed as ‘Adhi Vesak Poya Day’.
