SriLankan Airlines denies cyberattack claims

SriLankan Airlines yesterday categorically denied recent media reports and public statements alleging that its Information Technology (IT) systems were hacked, hijacked or otherwise compromised, or that the airline is under the control of hackers.

The claims relate to an externally published cyber allegation on 29 June 2026 claiming that SriLankan Airlines’ IT systems had been breached.

Upon becoming aware of the claim made on 29 June 2026, SriLankan Airlines immediately undertook the necessary investigations, technical assessments and precautionary measures.

Based on the findings, no unauthorised access to the airline’s internal Information Technology environment or operational systems, compromise of information assets, unauthorised extraction of data, or disruption to the airline’s services or operational continuity was established.

The airline further confirms that its systems and services, including email services, have remained operational without disruption, with no impact on the airline’s operations or continuity of service at any point.

SriLankan Airlines also confirms that no ransom demand, whether in Bitcoin, U.S. dollars or any other form, has been received from the alleged party, and no negotiations relating to a ransom have taken place.

Accordingly, SriLankan Airlines categorically rejects allegations that its systems have been taken over or remain under the control of hackers.

SriLankan Airlines remains committed to safeguarding its information systems and ensuring the continued reliability of its services for passengers, employees and business partners
