Sri Lanka finish on top of Tri-Series standings

The Sri Lanka Under-19 Team produced another splendid bowling performance to edge Australia Under-19 Team by three runs in their Women’s Under-19 Tri-Series match 9, played at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, Australia yesterday.

Aseni Thalagune (2/28) bowled a superb last over as Charli McLennan (17) was run out on the penultimate ball by a brilliant throw from deep mid-wicket with the home side eventually falling short by three runs from the target.

It was a brilliant bowling performance with Sri Lanka using a five-pronged spin attack to defend their score of 99 as they went on to finish at the top of the points table in the Tri-Series.

They showed brilliant discipline with the ball across the tournament, crucially only bowling two wide deliveries while their opponents couldn’t match their control with the ball.

Limansa Thilakarathne was Player-of-the-Match, top scoring across the match and taking two wickets.
