Sri Lanka recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Seychelles in the second match of their FIFA international friendly series yesterday, completing a 5-0 aggregate victory over the two matches.
The second-leg match was played at Stade Linité in Victoria, Mahé Island, Seychelles. Sri Lanka had already secured a 3-0 victory in the first match on September 27.
Sri Lanka, ranked 187th in the FIFA rankings, faced Seychelles, ranked 204th. The Sri Lankan side maintained its dominance over the two-match series, winning both encounters without conceding a goal.
Sri Lanka took the lead in the first half, with Dillon de Silva finding the net in the 32nd minute.
Both teams produced an attacking contest in the second half while also strengthening their defensive lines. Substitute Waseem Razeek then scored Sri Lanka’s second goal in the 84th minute to seal the 2-0 victory.
Following the two matches against Seychelles, the Sri Lankan team is scheduled to travel to Mauritius, where they are due to play international friendly matches against Mauritius and Djibouti. The current fixture listings show Sri Lanka scheduled to face Mauritius on October 2 and Djibouti on October 3.
