The International Conference on Advancements in Computing, ICAC 2025, successfully concluded on the ninth and tenth of December at Monarch Imperial in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. Held under the theme The Future of Computing AI, Quantum and Beyond, the event brought together leading academics, industry experts, and early career researchers for two days of rich dialogue and shared learning.
The conference witnessed remarkable participation. Close to two thousand authors submitted a total of four hundred and sixty-two papers across twelve technical tracks. After a rigorous double blind review process, one hundred and sixteen papers were selected, showcasing innovative research across multiple domains within modern computing.
The conference was headlined by two distinguished keynote speakers, Prof Igor Bray, John Curtin Distinguished Professor at Curtin University in Australia and Prof Carson Kai Sang Leung from the University of Manitoba in Canada. Their contributions underscored the global relevance of the conference and enriched discussions with deep academic and industry insight.
Parallel to the main event, ICAC 2025 presented a set of pre and post-conference workshops conducted by globally recognised scholars and practitioners. The pre-conference workshops were completed during the event and covered IoT and networking for crisis management, confidential federated computing, generative AI tools for the research workflow and text analytics for user-generated content and agentic AI for enterprise transformation. The post-conference workshops include the application of GANs in medical image analysis, an interdisciplinary research session, and a three-day MongoDB educator training programme. These post-conference sessions are scheduled to take place after the main event and will offer participants hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to advanced methods.
Organised by the Faculty of Computing at SLIIT, ICAC continues to build its reputation as a premier Scopus-indexed forum for research dissemination. The conference has achieved a Google Scholar h-index of sixteen and received strong support from the IEEE Sri Lanka Section as the technical co-sponsor. All accepted and presented papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore, subject to scope and quality criteria. The event was further strengthened by its partner network, with MongoDB as Platinum Sponsor, along with Curtin University Colombo, SLIIT Research and International, Sysco LABS, Creative Software, Peoples Leasing, and the ICT Academy of India.
Dr. Prasanna Sumathipala, General Chair ICAC 2025, said, “It was a great success to witness ICAC 2025, a gathering that celebrated innovation, collaboration and the future of computing. With a strong technical programme, globally respected keynote speakers and impactful pre and post-conference workshops, this year’s conference truly pushed the boundaries of knowledge across AI, quantum technologies and emerging computing paradigms.”
With its vibrant exchange of ideas, strong industry partnerships and commitment to advancing research excellence, ICAC 2025 has further strengthened global research connections and inspired new pathways for innovation that will influence the future of computing.
