SLAAA receives ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Silver Membership plaque

The Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy (SLAAA), the training arm of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL), has received the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) Associate (Silver) Membership Plaque for 2025.

The plaque was formally handed over to AASL Chairman Admiral Kanchana Banagoda (Retd.) by SLAAA Head Kishantha Nimalaratne during the ninth Board Meeting of AASL held on September 22.

AASL Vice Chairman Cyril Wannigama, Executive Director Primal De Silva and other members of the Board were present.

The ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme is a global network of aviation training organisations aimed at improving the quality, safety and efficiency of aviation training worldwide.

SLAAA has been a member of the ICAO training programme since 2007 and is currently the only training organisation in Sri Lanka holding ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS membership.

Through the programme, SLAAA has access to international training resources and networks, including Standardized Training Packages, while strengthening its capabilities in course development, competency-based training, instructor development and training validation.

The Academy said its participation in the programme had also contributed to the development of specialised professional expertise. In 2025, a SLAAA officer was appointed as an ICAO Instructional Systems Design Validator.

The Associate (Silver) membership status is determined through ICAO’s performance measurement system, which assesses participating training organisations against established criteria.
