Sehandu Dulneth Fernando of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo, is set to represent Sri Lanka at the prestigious World Cadet Chess Cup, one of the world’s leading youth chess tournaments. He will compete in the Under-10 category.
The tournament will be held in Batumi, Georgia, from the 15th to the 28th of this month, bringing together young chess talents from 67 countries.
Sehandu earned his place at the global event following an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championship.

He has also represented Sri Lanka at the 2024 Western Asian Youth Chess Championship, as well as the 2024 and 2026 Commonwealth Chess Championships.
Continuing his impressive run, Sehandu has also qualified for the upcoming Asian Youth Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in China this July.
