Presidential Export Awards Presented in Recognition of Sri Lankan Exporters Who Have Made Exceptional Contributions to the Export Sector
The 27th Presidential Export Awards Ceremony, organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) under the Ministry of Industries and Development, was held Yesteray (11) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall under the patronage of Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
As the highest national accolade conferred upon Sri Lankan exporters for exceptional contributions to the export sector and to broader economic progress, the Presidential Export Awards aim to honour exporters who have rendered notable service to the nation’s economic development. Initiated in 1981, the Sri Lanka Export Development Board has since organized 26 such ceremonies. This year’s ceremony, held to recognize Sri Lanka’s leading exporters for the years 2024/2025, presented 107 awards, comprising 15 overall awards and 92 product and service sector awards. Merit awards were also conferred on eligible sectors, as determined by the panel of judges, based on applicants’ performance and the respective sectoral contributions to the national economy.
In selecting the sectoral award recipients, the evaluation criteria included export revenue, diversification of export markets, employment generation, growth in export earnings, repatriation of export proceeds, environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and value addition. The Best Exporter of the Year Award was presented to Omega Line Company.
Awardees received either an award or a plaque, along with a certificate, and are entitled to use the Presidential Export Award logo as a marketing tool for a period of three years. The 27th Presidential Export Awards Ceremony, organized under the guidance of the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Sunil Handunnetti; the Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe; and the Ministry Secretary, Ms. Thilaka Jayasundara, and under the supervision of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, was attended by approximately 1,500 guests, including ministers, deputy ministers, diplomatic officers, government officials, and exporters.
