Pathana cruise to 33-6 win over Lumbini

'Green Machine' Isipathana College continued their unbeaten run as they got the better of hometown rivals Lumbini College 33-6 in their 3rd week clash of the inter school A-Division rugby encounter played at Ananda Grounds, Rajagiriya on Sunday (10).

Pathana started fast. Just a few minutes into the game, skipper Shaakib Zumri powered over under the posts for the first try. Nimantha Sandeepa kicked the conversion to make it 7-0. 

About 15 minutes later, Rizwi Jafrad scored Pathana’s second try. Sandeepa landed a tough kick from the left corner flag to push the score to 14-0. 

Starboy from the 2025 knockout final Yuvindu Kodithuwakku got Isipathana’s third try in the 26th minute. Sandeepa added the extras again. Lumbini finally got on the board with a penalty just before halftime. 

Half-time: Isipathana 21-3 Lumbini

Pathana came out strong in the second half. Only five minutes in, Kodithuwakku scored his second try of the game. Another Lumbini penalty made it 28-6. 

In the last moments of the match, Nimantha Sandeepa sealed the win with a try in the corner.
