The High Commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera officially handed over the Commission of Appointment to Dimuthu Samaranayake, who has been appointed as the Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Adelaide, with jurisdiction covering South Australia.
The ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra.
According to the High Commission, Samaranayake is a seasoned project management professional in the mining sector and has been actively involved in various Sri Lankan community organizations in Adelaide.
High Commissioner Gunasekera congratulated Samaranayake on his appointment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening Sri Lanka’s engagement with South Australia to enhance trade, investment, and tourism opportunities.
Samaranayake expressed his dedication to providing effective consular services to the approximately 10,000-strong Sri Lankan community in South Australia.
He reiterated his commitment to working closely with the High Commission in Canberra and the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Melbourne to serve the community’s needs.
