Minasro College expands educational excellence with new branch in Mathugama

Minasro College marked a significant milestone in its educational journey with the opening of its newest branch in Mathugama on March 12, 2026. The expansion reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment in providing quality education for the growing demand from the parents in the region. The decision to establish the Mathugama branch followed repeated requests from parents and well-wishers who had witnessed the success and high standards achieved at the Pelawatta branch. Many parents expressed the need for a trusted institution offering English medium education in Mathugama. The new branch provides a complete educational pathway from Pre-school to G.C.E. Advanced Level, combining the national curriculum with internationally recognized Cambridge English qualifications. This approach is designed to equip students with the knowledge and language skills, required for both local examinations and global opportunities in higher education and future careers.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated with the participation of many distinguished guests, including Mr. Jagath Pinnagoda Vithana (Member of Parliament), Mr. Madusha Sankalpa (Divisional Secretary - Mathugama) and Mr. Kasun Munasinghe (Chairman - Mathugama Pradesheeya Sabha). Dr. Major. Anura Kannangara (CEO - Minasro College), Mrs. Pushpa Hettiarachchi (Principal - Minasro College - Pelawatta), Dr. Channa Vithana (Medical Officer - Health - Mathugama), Mr. Deepthi Samaranayaka (Assistant Director - Education) and Mrs. Shyama Thilakarathna (former Assistant Director - Education) were also present. The event was further honored by Mr. Rasika Vithana (Senior Director - Jagath Investment), Dr. K. L. Gunarathna (Director - National Pre-School Foundation) and Mrs. Liza Anne Silva (Head - AMRAK Institution), along with many businessmen, teachers, community leaders, parents, and students. During the ceremony, it was emphasized the importance of holistic education, focusing on discipline, values, leadership and creativity. The institute features modern classrooms and a learning environment, designed to encourage innovation, critical thinking and active student engagement. With this expansion, Minasro College continues its mission of delivering quality education while strengthening its presence across Sri Lanka.
