MAGA Awarded Contract for Kottawa – Dodangoda Expressway Renovation

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved awarding Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. the contract to renovate a 15-kilometer stretch of the Southern Expressway between Kottawa and Dodangoda.

The decision follows reports of extensive surface cracks and degradation of internal structural layers observed between the 19th and 34th kilometers of the expressway. Authorities have identified the need to repair the degraded base and apply a surface overlay to restore the section to safe and durable standards.

Bids for the project were invited from qualified local institutions under the National Competitive Procurement procedure. After evaluation, the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee recommended awarding the contract to Maga Engineering, identified as the lowest responsive bidder.

The Cabinet subsequently approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation to proceed with the renovation through Maga Engineering.
