JAT Pintharu Abhiman Expands Its Nationwide Footprint with Completion of 3rd Edition of Workshops

JAT Holdings PLC marked another important milestone in its long-term commitment to uplifting Sri Lanka’s painter community, as the 3rd edition of its flagship development initiative, JAT Pintharu Abhiman concluded with the eighth and final workshop held in Colombo, reinforcing JAT’s sustained investment in professionalising and empowering the painter ecosystem.

This year alone, the programme registered over 3,400 painters across eight key regions: Matara, Kegalle, Dambulla, Badulla, Puttalam, Ampara, Jaffna and Colombo. Alongside technical training, hands-on product demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing modules, this year’s edition also featured a dedicated Professional Painter Development session designed to help participants elevate their skills, conduct, and industry readiness. The programme once again included the Best Wood Finisher competition, which recognises outstanding craftsmanship and encourages painters to continuously refine their techniques. Supported by the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), and amplified through the MTV/MBC Network, JAT Pintharu Abhiman continues to strengthen skills, enhance industry know-how, and create new pathways for painters to improve their craftsmanship and livelihoods.

Speaking on the technical value delivered through the workshops, Wasantha Gunaratne, Director – Sales & Technical (South Asia) of JAT Holdings PLC, added “With 24 workshops completed to date, JAT Pintharu Abhiman has evolved into one of the most structured and technically rigorous painter development initiatives in Sri Lanka. Each phase is designed to strengthen technical mastery, industry discipline, and the ability to adapt to new coating technologies. Our focus is to guide painters toward becoming true professionals with the confidence and capability to eventually build their own enterprises. As products, surfaces, and customer expectations change, it is essential that the painter community stays ahead, and this programme ensures they have the technical foundation to do so.”

Reflecting on the programme’s impact, Dilshan Rodrigo, Director – Marketing of JAT Holdings PLC, said “Pintharu Abhiman is designed to create meaningful pathways for painters to grow into recognised professionals, elevate their lifestyle and improve their quality of living. When we uplift painters, we uplift the families and communities who depend on this industry. This aligns strongly with our commitment to advancing national progress in line with wider sustainable development priorities. Across every phase, we have seen remarkable dedication from participants who are eager to learn, adapt and excel. By giving them exposure to new technology, techniques and industry insights, we are honouring their craft and strengthening the backbone of Sri Lanka’s coatings and construction sectors.”

Since its inception, JAT Pintharu Abhiman has connected with thousands of painters nationwide, offering structured training, certification opportunities, and access to expert technical guidance. The programme reflects JAT’s broader commitment to uplifting communities, raising industry standards, and supporting the professionals who directly influence the quality and beauty of Sri Lanka’s living and working spaces.

With the successful conclusion of the 3rd edition of JAT Pintharu Abhiman, JAT Holdings PLC remains committed to expanding the initiative in the years ahead, deepening its impact and continuing to empower the nation’s painter community.
