The 24th Inter-Plantation Rugby Sevens Tournament conducted by the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club (DMCC) will be held on April 4 at the Darrawella Grounds in Dickoya, commencing at 8.00 a.m.
The competition will be played for the Bartleet Meyer Trophy, a symbol of excellence and pride among the 12 plantation teams. Over the years, the tournament has grown stature, attracting strong participation and enthusiastic massive crowds from across the hill country.
The Cup Championship was clinched by Malwatte Valley Plantations in last year’s tournament and they will look to defend their title. Talawakelle Tea Estates, who finished as runners-up last year will be determined to go one step further this time.
Maskeliya Plantations were the Plate champions while the Bowl champions at last year’s tournament were Elpitiya Plantations. Kotagala and Agarapathana Plantations are the defending Shield champions.
With the continued support of Sri Lanka Rugby, the 24th Plantations Sevens Rugby promises not only high-quality rugby action but also a festive environment, making it a unique sporting celebration for the players.
The Chief Guest for the tournament will be the Managing Director and CEO of Hatton Plantations Menaka Athukorala.
