Radio Siyawas Abhiman 2025, a ceremony to mark the centenary of broadcasting in Sri Lanka and honour the pioneers and veterans who rendered an invaluable service to the nation’s broadcasting industry was held on February 12 at Temple Trees in Colombo.
Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi was the chief guest.
The guests of honour were the Minister of Health, Mass Media and Chief Government Whip, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and several Members of Parliament and other invitees.
Thirty media professionals, who made outstanding contributions to the advancement of radio broadcasting in Sri Lanka were honoured for their dedicated service.
Adding a nostalgic touch to the evening, the audience was taken on a memorable journey through time with classic radio melodies, signature tunes and songs that once defined the golden era of Sri Lankan broadcasting. The harmonious blend of tradition and tribute made the centenary celebration a truly unforgettable occasion.
The ceremony was jointly organised by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Sri Lanka Arts Council and the State Broadcasting, Print and Social Media Regulatory Board.
