Government revenue: IRD tax rev exceeds Rs 2,040 b in Q3 2026

Total tax revenue collected by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) reached Rs 2,040 billion by the end of the third quarter of 2026. According to an official media release issued on Friday (2), total collections as of 30 September 2026, reflect a 24% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2025. During the first nine months of 2025, the department collected Rs 1,642 billion in tax revenue.

The Rs 398 billion net expansion in tax revenue marks rapid growth year-over-year. With this performance, the Inland Revenue Department has already secured 85% of its annual revenue target for 2026.
