Dambulla women NSL Limited Overs Champions

Dambulla women’s team led by Harshitha Samarawickrama emerged champions when they beat Colombo women’ by 7 wickets in the inaugural National Duper League ( NSL) women’s cricket tournament final played at Colts grounds yesterday.It was a low scoring game while Colombo women’s were bundled out for 66t in 25.3 overs and Dambulla lasses reached their target in 11.2 overs with 7 wickets in hand.Sri Lanka under 19 team skipper Manudi Nanayakkara playing for Dambulla took 5 for 18 was adjudged player of the final.

Four teams Colombo,Kandy, Galle and Dambulla women took part this tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket and this time mainly focused to select best players from this tournament.However women’s National team skipper Chamari Athapaththu did not competein this tournament and selectors advised her to take a rest after hectic franchise T- 20 tournaments.National women’s selection committee member and former National women’s team member Rasanjali Alwis was the chief guest while Rumesh Ratnayake the head coach of National women’s team was guest of honour at the final.

WNSL Player of the Final award was received by Manudi Nanayakkara of team Dambulla who took 5 for 18 in her six overs spell.Best Bowler of the Tournament award went to Sachini Nisansala of Team Colombo who got 8 wickets in 3 games.Best Batter of the Tournament award was won by Harshitha Samarawickrama of Team Dambulla .She has scored 188 runs with a highest score of an unbeaten 130 the only centurion of the tournament.

Player of the Tournament was Kaveesha Dilhari of Team Kandy who scored 172 runs in 3 games and took 7 wickets with best figures of 3 for 36.Runner Up Team of the Tournament Team Colombo and Champions Dambulla received cash awards from SLC .
