Hindu College, Colombo produced a fine all-round performance to beat their traditional rivals Hindu College, Jaffna by five wickets in the 15th Battle of the Hindus Inter-School Big Match, which concluded at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo yesterday.
In a low-scoring encounter, the lads from Jaffna were bowled out for 102 and 98 in their two innings with Vishwanathan Yuvaraj (4/44) and Ramanathan Dheskar (4/20) sharing the wickets in the second innings.
The home side were left with an easy victory target of 82 runs and they reached home with five wickets and plenty of overs to spare with opening batsman Thivakaran Yaadhav stroking an unbeaten 34.
