The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded a strong upward trend today (04), with key indices posting notable gains while daily turnover reached Rs. 4.8 billion.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 145.47 points to close at 22,695, while the S&P SL20 index gained 37.08 points to settle at 6,244.64.
Market turnover was largely driven by a crossing in Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC), which contributed Rs. 2.38 billion. The transaction involved 1,341,170 shares traded at Rs. 1,780.00 per share.
Market sources indicated that the crossing was executed between a foreign seller and a local buyer.
